In this writing, I want to share how I analyzed and what I have found using Michael Jordan’s and LeBron Jame’s data posted by and thanks to Maven Analytics (www.mavenanalytics.io/blog/jordan-vs-lebron-challenge).
It is always fun to see information to analyze. I am not a very big fan of basketball games, like chess games, however, I heard quite a lot of times about Michael Jordan and LeBron James. So, this made me start to import data from a web page, even though the attached file (source file) was zipped. In getting the zip file from the web, I used the same technique as in my previous report-submission to extract data.
This time, while creating a report, I tried something that I have not tried before.
- I used many types of Page Size.
Besides the cover page, I created four more pages to support my declaration about who is the G.O.A.T. Honestly, other than 16:4 size, those did not look natural to me. At least until now.
I think it is because I felt too much comfortable seeing and making 16:4 size or similar types of reports by PowerPoint. I hope this first try helps me to come out of the comfort zone and explore the new.
- I tried to use Tabular Editor to create calculation groups and to show labels with text.
In my opinion, Tabular Editor is great for the situation when using a lot of time intelligence functions, for creating measures as a filter, when needs to show many number-format-types in one column, and for some other situations. In this task, I could only show labels with text on visualizations by using Tabular Editor. I failed to apply it for the efficiency of the analysis. Next time, I will try to create measures as a filter or a slicer by utilizing Tabular Editor.
I wrote inside my Power BI Report about who and why I declared as the G.O.A.T.
The title screenshot of this blog post is the single image of my 5-page-analysis, and the below-embedded visual is the connection to my Power BI Service to see and play with my report.
I hope this helps you to decide on choosing who is the G.O.A.T if you have to.
I attach my pbix file to this blog post.
